I couldn't agree more. We have normalized the trivial, the vulgar, and the violent. We need to push for art of a higher quality, both in our own works and in others.

This is a fabulous piece, you're opening my dreary eyes to the vital hearth of beatniks. I feel an underlined rawness which invites intimacy between the souls of writers and readers. I'm in admitted withdrawal of pop culture, I can appreciate what it has done for me as a youth enabled to have an expanded imagination. But where ART is concerned, I share your dream of maturity, accountability, resonance, gravity, SOUL.

Absolutely! When it comes to old films I also love the natural seduction of old hollywood dames. We have lost that quality nowadays, the mystique, classy and enigmatic quality of films— or at least I have yet to discover any modern films that fit that description, unless they are period pieces that is.
